Hello, I was wondering whether any kind soul would be able to tell me where I can get a hold of the Beatrix Potter soundtrack? I've tried amazon and ebay to no avail, and as the record label is apparently defunct, I have no idea where else to search for it. I fell in love with the music all over again when I watched the show on TV the other day - it reminds me of my childhood in an almost achingly nostalgic way. I really have to get my hands on it. Needless to say, any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alicia,
First off, let me thank you for actually taking the time to write something in the discussion area. Apart from me, you're the first one! I thought I was going to rattle around here forever on my own!
Secondly, the BP soundtrack appears to be a very popular soundtrack as I get lots of queries about it. I think it's a great soundtrack myself!
Sad to say it's been out of print for years and Pickwick (the record company) has folded, so it doesn't look like it will see the light of day any time soon.
Ebay is about the only place you'll see it - a copy of the CD went a few months ago for 99p! So it does get listed - I'm afraid you'll just have to be patient. If I can see it anywhere else I'll let you know.

Hello Alicia;
I also loved "World of Peter Rabbit..." series. I had lost the video I had of one episode, but recently found it discounted in a dollar store here. To mydelight, the soundtrack cd was included with the video! But here is MY query: Where can I get a set of lyrics to the lovely song "A Room Full Of Tales"? Any help at all would be greatly apprecialted!

Hi Sharon,
The bad news is that no lyrics were ever produced with the CD, which would have been nice. An opportunity missed, eh?
No joy either when I searched the internet - fancy doing the honours yourself!?!?

I shall give it a go, Gary! It's the dratted, sort of far-away bits that are echoed in the background that trip me up! Do you know who that is singing the song? Is that Mr. Towns? I teach preschool- 3 year olds- who just adore that whole Beatrix Potter video series, and love the soundtrack as well, particularly that song "A Room Full Of Tales". Thanks for your help!

Hi msbooks,
Well, I don't think you need to figure out the lyrics yourself anymore! After a tentative approach to Colin's office, my contact has been able to source the lyrics to Room Full Of Tales (although 'Tails' would be more suitable once you've read the words), from what would appear to be the Japanese version of the CD.
So here they are:
Room Full of Tails [sic]
A light from the window Lights up a tail Just turn around - you’ll hear A room full of tales come echoing “And everyone”, says Peter, “Yes, everyone is here”.
Over the hills and dales Listening with ears and tails. Going off to market In their Sunday best Peter Rabbit stole his tea Mister McGreggor chased angrily.
Over the hills we go, Into the house tiptoe. I wonder where Jemima Shelters from the rain. Mister Fox was cruel and sly, Fooled the duck and made her cry
A light from the window Lights up a tail. Just turn around you’ll hear A room full of tales come echoing “And everyone”, says. Peter, “Yes, everyone is here”. I'd just like to thank Jo at Colin's office for the hard work in finding the lyrics. Her efforts are greatly appreciated.
Remember these lyrics are copyrighted and can't be used without the expressed permission of the composer. However, Sharon, I guess you've now got Colin's permission otherwise you wouldn't have been given the words! I hope your class(es) sing their hearts out now they know what they're singing!
Oh, and yes, it is Colin singing on that track.

Again, thank you so much for your help! I did have one more question: Was the song "A Room Full Of Tales" featured in any of the Peter Rabbit episodes, or was it a bonus to the cd?

Sharon,
Glad to have helped you - and the kids!
As for the song itself, I can't remember if it featured in one of the 9 episodes or not. You've now got the perfect excuse to watch them again with the kids. If it does, I'd like to know which one!
Happy viewing!

Hi Gary, Do you know of any websites where the music to "The world of Peter Rabbit and Friends" can be purchased as MP3 files? I know you said in 2006 that they were no longer recording it. I am hoping that itunes or amazon would allow you to purchase the MP3 files. I danced to the Reprise of perfect day about 10 years ago and I would like to be able to purchase it. Any help you can give would be great. Or if the reprise was featured in any of the episodes could you let me know?
Thank you, Emily

Don't hold your breath! Best bet is to check ebay every so often, I've seen it on there a few times.
